The Position 
The Calvin Klein Senior Men's Bags Designer will report into the Design Director for Accessories, Design Direction and VP of Design. 


Key responsibilities:

  • The conception and development of the Calvin Klein Men's Bags through key silhouettes, materials, hardware in accordance with the brand DNA, global design inputs and market requirements and in collaboration with the Design team. 
  • Preparing seasonal mood boards, concept boards, research, and color proposals (4 collections - 2 main and 2 pre) for bags. 
  • Building the line following a “red thread” of colors, silhouettes and detailing in order to help cross-merchandising on the wall/window across different families and materializations. 
  • Working closely and following the Design Direction of the brand as conveyed by the Design Direction. 
  • Working closely and building a strong relationship with Merchandisers and Product Developers, in order to strengthen partnership. 
  • Working closely with peers from the Merchandising and PD departments with the best open and collaborative attitude. 
  • Preparing and presenting concepts/collection to the Design Director and Creative Director. 
  • Working within an intimate design team, this position is vital to ensuring the growth of the division.
  • Men's Accessories is a key focus area within the Accessories Division, therefore a strong, commercial technical understanding of men's accessories is a must. 
  • As the design team is small, you must craft key looks from sketch to technical packs 
  • Create technical specs of hardware in 2D and 3D
  • Create prints and graphics technical specs
  • Create digital overviews of the collection
  • Create layouts for internal and external presentations
  • Responsible for designing and executing of seasonal collections according to range plans. 
  • Assist the Design Director on daily tasks
  • Researching accessories details that are aligned with the corporate design brief
  • Researching trends that work into the Calvin Klein brand identity/strategy, translating these into seasonal collections. 
  • Working closely with the wider team to ensure deadlines are meet within the divisional calendar. 
  • Strong computer sketches (CAD) and knowledge of PLM is essential.
  • Responsible for mood, trend, colour, fabric & trim research within these categories. 
  • Working with the in-house sourcing team on fabric selection process and managing the fabric archive.
  • Close cooperation with tech department & PD team for the execution of product for proto review and hand-over.
  • Act quickly to developing trends and filter this into special designed capsules within these categories which will be outside the seasonal calendar.
  • Work well in a team environment utilizing strong communication skills.
     

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 8 years+ experience as a Men's Accessories designer 
  • University/college degree in Fashion Design.
  • 1 years experience in managing a junior designer or designers.
  • Adobe creative suite skills are a must and a strong interest or willingness to learn 3D design (Browzwear/Lotta/CLO).
  • High level of attention to detail needed for branded product. 
  • Excellent hand sketch skills 
  • High productivity. 
  • Pro activity. 
  • High flexibility, adapt to changes. 
  • Sensibility to colors. 
  • Good understanding of Calvin Klein DNA and brand awareness
  • Good understanding of constructions and materials with knowledge of pattern making. 
  • Excellent presentation skills are a must 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and good work aesthetic
  • Good understanding of constructions and materials and a knowledge of pattern making
  • Creative with fresh new ideas, with ability to be creative within commercial restraints.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A fast and organized designer to cope with the fast pace environments. 
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English are a must.
  • Creates partnership and able to work within a diverse team.
  • Experience in working and visiting factories in Asia.
