The Position


As Interim Senior Legal Counsel Employment you will be part of PVH Europe’s Legal team based in Amsterdam, which is part of the global PVH Legal team. You will be responsible for employment law matters in the broadest sense. You will provide advice to our Human Resources (HR), Executive Management Team (EMT) and other internal stakeholders within PVH Europe’s headquarters based in Amsterdam as well as Retail and Warehouses in the Netherlands. Within PVH we implement best in class initiatives to ensure the physical, social and psychological well-being of all PVH associates. This includes health and wellness, employee relations, and service excellence, training, career development, compensation and benefit programs, recognition and reward programs. Employment law is therefore an important pillar of the Legal Department.



Key Duties and Responsibilities


Implement and drive the Employment strategy across your areas of responsibility, including:


  • Provide advice to our HR teams, EMT and other internal stakeholders on employment law matters in the broadest sense, including hiring, employee relation matters, employment conditions, performance management, restructurings, discipline, terminations, sickness, compensation and benefits;


  • Review and develop HR policies and best practices for our Dutch entities as well as our EMEA entities;


  • Support and advice the business/HR with works council matters;


  • Review and draft employment related agreements, templates and guidelines, including employment contracts and settlement agreements;


  • Advice our Employee Experience team on internal investigations. Recommend and help implementing appropriate actions;


  • Negotiate (complicated) individual settlements;


  • Educate HR to mitigate risk on key HR responsibilities, including employee relations, employee investigations, compliance with employment laws and regulations;


  • Take the lead and execute employment related (EMEA) projects;


  • Prepares, develops and conducts training programs on employment law matters; for example, employment law updates, discipline, performance, and documentation preparation;


  • Monitor case law, legislation, and policy in your areas of responsibility, and identify opportunities where PVH should influence developments;


  • Actively contribute to the global COE Employment by sharing best practices and know-how.



Requirements and personal skills:


  • Passionate and knowledgeable Employment lawyer (with LL.M degree of a Dutch University) with 10+ years of directly relevant experience, preferably both private practice and in-house legal experience;


  • Strong ability to independently render excellent legal advice with business acumen and sound judgment;


  • Strong ability to think strategically to resolve matters effectively and efficiently and to build collaborative relationships with HR, business leaders and senior management;


  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and fluent level in English, both spoken and written;


  • Eye for detail, strong organizational skills, structured mindset and accurate;


  • Developed business insight with ability to understand the company's business and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings;


  • Proactive, hands-on approach, taking ownership and self-starting;


  • Able and eager to work in an international, diverse, and inclusive working environment;


  • A strong team player, and a good listener with a positive attitude;
