Position Description & Responsibilities:

This freelance opportunity in the Tommy Jeans women's design team will focus on the shirts and soft woven product categories. You will report into the Design Director and/or Design Manager Wovens and work closely together with the other designers in order to build a cohesive collection. You are required to map out and design into an exciting range - from essential to seasonal styles - based on the concept, sales, market demands and current trends befitting the Tommy Jeans brand. Collaborating with Product Development, Tech, Merrchandising and the Print team, the aim is to offer our TJ customer the very best product possible.

Your chief responsibilities will be to:

Conduct product research based on current trends.

Map out the competitor landscape through category offence.

Create seasonal sourcing briefs to send to vendors to ensure news value in fabrication, silhouette and trimmings.

Map out and sketch the shirt and soft woven categories resulting in a clear, commercial build-up, always keeping the rangeplan in mind.

Create complete garment work sheets/ tech packs in order to communicate your ideas with the vendors as well as PD.

Conduct fittings and see to the administrative follow-up throughout the various phases in the design development process.

Prep and present your designs, both digitally and non-digitally.

Travel for design development and production purposes.

The Ideal Candidate has:

A Bachelor degree in Fashion Design (apparel).

A minimum of 5 years experience in Womenswear design, ideally soft wovens / dresses.

A strong understanding of the Tommy Jeans brand DNA.

A creative, feminine and youthful design handwriting.

A keen eye for current trends and a feel for the youth market.

Skilled in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Strong skills in time management and organization.

A hands-on, collaborative mentality ? must also be a strong communicator.

English language skills are a must, both verbal and in writing.

Mentoring skills are a bonus!
